First of all: why am I here and why “Exploring Art with Alessandro”?

Well actually the answer is the same and it depends on who I am and the impact that Visual Art has in our lives. I am Alessandro and I am just an enthusiast art lover who has started to study art since I was really young and I am still doing it not just on the books, but mostly travelling and learning from experts.

And about Art…well we are surrounded by art… and it doesn’t matter if you are just curious or you need to write an essay or you are going to travel and you want to know more about what you are going to see or visit a museum or even impress your date.

The reasons are many, but one thing is for sure: understanding art can open new horizons discovering new pages of the World and of ourselves. Ok this is maybe too “poetic”, but to really appreciate something we are looking at we need to understand what we have in front of us.

The role of the viewer

Art is made with a main purpose, to communicate: usually a meaning and a feeling. But, to be able to comprehend the real meaning, we need to understand what there is behind. We need to remember that any work of art is consequence of many variables balanced between “passive” and “active“. “Passive” are, for istance: culture, values, politics, religion, taste, commission; “active” are directly related to the artist: skills, personal taste, goals, dreams, desires.

The consequence is the creation of a work of art that any artist wants to make known (for whatever personal reason: fame, success, money, satisfaction…), but it can be done just if it is something unique and understandable. That is the reason why the role of the viewer is actually essential! With no viewers even a masterpiece would just be an “object” and every artists’ hope is that their creations can be admired by countless people in an unlimited time…

My goal is exactly trying to make clear what we are looking to be able to admire it. I am going to do it simply being myself: informal, passionate and straight talking, proving that art can be appreciated by anybody (once we start to understand it) and, one step more, loved by anybody (once we find what fits more your taste 😉 ).

I am going to do it with my blog and on this website where you can find many interactive tools and on my YouTube channel.

And that’s why “Exploring Art with Alessandro“: we are going to start a journey that is going to reveal a lot of stories, curiosity and mysteries and you are welcome to join our community!

Watch my first video, it is just an intro, but it gives you a better idea of what we are going to discover together!
